NASA's Swift Mission has spied a comet slowdown

NASA’s Swift mission has spied a comet slowdown which orbits the planet every 5.4 years was rotating 3 times slower than it was in march when observed by Discovery Channel Telescope the comet 41P/Tuttle-Giacobini-Kresák which is just 0.9 mile(1.4 kilometers) had a rotating period of 20 hours but according to observations the rotating period had more than doubled 46 and 60 hours but why is the comet spinning slower ? To find the reason we did some research and found the answer on  NASA’s Website As a comet nears the Sun, increased heating causes its surface ice to change directly to a gas, producing jets that launch dust particles and icy grains into space. This material forms an extended atmosphere, called a coma. Water in the coma quickly breaks up into hydrogen atoms and hydroxyl molecules when exposed to ultraviolet sunlight. Because Swift’s Ultraviolet/Optical Telescope (UVOT) is sensitive to UV light emitted by hydroxyl, it is ideally suited for measuring how comet a...

Did You Know You are seeing the Past of the Universe

When you look at the sky in the night you see about 5000 stars as well as many galaxies for which you need telescope to view but you can see Stars in night with naked eye. An Astronomer uses a telescope to see the stars and galaxies, planets, etc but whatever he/she sees is actually the past of the Universe because the light from the stars, galaxies, etc left them hundreds, thousands, millions….of years ago. Let’s understand this if a ray of light is sent to Alpha Centauri from Sun then it would take about 4.3 light years to reach Alpha Centauri. Similarly,When we see the sun rays we too see the past because a ray of sun takes about 8 minutes to reach the Earth at the speed of light. So whenever you look in the sky keep in mind that you are seeing the Past. Video Link  https://youtu.be/wodCDJIBNYA
